Client Gifts for Mortgage Brokers: What to Send at Settlement
For a mortgage broker, settlement is the day months of work for a client comes together: the loan funds, the purchase completes and the client gets the keys. A well-chosen gift at that point thanks them for trusting you with one of the biggest financial decisions they will make, and keeps your name in front of them when they refinance, buy again or recommend you to a friend. This guide covers how to choose client gifts as a broker, when to send them, how to work alongside the agent's gift, how to brand them and how to order when several loans settle in the same week.
How a broker's gift differs from the agent's
Your client may receive a gift from their real estate agent as well as from you. The agent is usually celebrating the property. You can celebrate the client's achievement: getting the loan approved, buying the home, or finishing a refinance that took effort on their part too.
Because the agent's gift often leans towards the new kitchen, a broker's gift can stand apart by being something to share or keep. If you know the agent well, a quick check on what they are sending avoids the client receiving two similar hampers on the same day. Our settlement gifts show the kind of hampers agents choose, which helps you pick something different.
Choosing client gifts as a mortgage broker
Read each product's listed contents before you choose. Some starting points from our range:
First home buyers. A first home is a milestone worth celebrating. The Cin Cin Hamper includes Zonzo Estate Prosecco Di Aria and a pair of crystal champagne glasses, with a wooden board and gold knife set, so the night they get the keys has a toast in it.
Clients who like to entertain. A Marble Moment, The Modern Host and Wine n Dine pair Zonzo Estate Pinot Noir with serving pieces such as cheese boards and knife sets.
Clients you don't know well, or who would rather not receive alcohol. Practicality (dish washing liquid, a tea towel and a cheese knife set) and Chef's Delight (salt and pepper mills, cheese knives and a chopping board) have no alcohol in their listed contents.
Refinance and repeat clients. A refinance doesn't come with new keys, so a smaller thank-you often fits better than a housewarming gift. Nibbles (Zonzo Estate Pinot Noir, roasted macadamias and chocolate meringue bites) is a simple way to say thanks.
Long-standing clients and larger loans. Contemporary Essentials and Chic Living add homewares such as a linen table runner, and Chic Living's candle can carry wording or your logo.
Every product page shows its current price, so you can set a gift budget per settlement and keep it consistent. Our corporate gift budget guide shows what each price point buys.
When to send a settlement gift
Settlement day is the natural moment, because the loan has funded and the purchase is complete. Before you order, confirm two things with your client: the address where they will be when the gift arrives, and whether someone will be there to receive it. Buyers don't always move in on settlement day, so the new property is not always the right address.
If the gift needs to arrive on a particular date, email our team before ordering so we can arrange it. We ship Australia wide, which suits brokers whose clients buy outside their own city.
If your business has a policy on client gifts, check it before choosing a gift amount.
Thanking your referral partners
Much of a broker's work arrives through referral partners such as real estate agents, accountants and financial planners. A gift when a referred client settles is a simple way to say thanks for the introduction. Browse our thank you hampers for options that suit a business relationship, or see our corporate gifting range for gifts to send to a whole office. To thank your own team at the end of the year, our staff gift hampers work the same way.
Branding a broker's gift
A settlement gift is a thank-you first and a reminder of your business second, so a tidy touch of branding usually works better than a logo on every item. Your options include:
- Branded gift boxes finished with a gloss label, with no minimum order, so you can brand a single client's gift. Many of our hampers come branded or unbranded, in black or white.
- Branded candles hand-poured by our team, with no minimum order.
- Branded ribbon, with a minimum order of one roll at $199 and a $121 (incl GST) setup fee invoiced at the artwork finalisation stage.
- Branded chopping boards in Chef's Delight, which need a minimum order of 5.
See all of our branding options. If you hand over loan documents in person, branded A4 document boxes keep the paperwork together and can go alongside the gift.
Ordering when several loans settle at once
For one client, order online and send the gift straight to them: online orders go to one delivery address each. If several loans settle in the same week, or your office sends gifts in batches, email us your chosen hampers and we will send you a spreadsheet to complete with each recipient's delivery details. Our how to order page explains both options, and our guide to sending gifts to multiple recipients covers bulk orders in more detail.
Brokerages that gift regularly can save time by choosing one or two standard settlement gifts and one branding approach, then reordering as each loan settles. For a template you can reuse, see how to brief a corporate gifting supplier.
